Momentum Continues as BendBroadband Becomes 5th U.S. Cable Operator to Select
Powerful, Emmy(R) Award-Winning Moxi HDTV, DVR Platform
KIRKLAND, Wash., and BEND, Ore., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Digeo, Inc., the
developer of the Moxi(TM) Media Center software platform, today announced that
BendBroadband, a leading independent cable operator serving central Oregon,
has begun commercial deployment of the Motorola Broadband Media Center (BMC)
with Moxi(TM).
The Motorola BMC with Moxi, an advanced digital set-top that integrates
high-definition television (HDTV) with a dual-tuner digital video recorder
(DVR), enables subscribers to watch one channel while recording another. This
innovative product will give consumers single-device access to their digital
content from television programs and movies to music, games, photos and
information on demand (i.e. weather, news and sports).
BendBroadband joins industry leading cable providers Adelphia Cable,
Charter Communications, Comcast Corporation, and Sunflower Broadband in
agreeing to commercially deploy the Motorola BMC with Moxi to its subscribers.
The product is currently available in more than 25 markets across the nation.
"The Motorola BMC with Moxi provides a much more compelling home
entertainment experience," said John Farwell, Director of Finance, Marketing
and Sales for BendBroadband. "This product delivers on the promise of digital
cable -- it's easy-to-use, packed with fun, profitable features and is
designed to grow with us, providing enjoyment for years to come."
Leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Motorola Broadband Media
Center, Moxi is one of the first software platforms designed specifically to
support cable's expanding menu of content and services. Utilizing the powerful
processor, internal hard drive, and built-in cable modem of the Motorola BMC,
the Moxi service offers a competitive choice for delivering digital home
entertainment. Designed for casual browsing and rapid search, the Emmy(R)
award-winning Moxi Menu allows viewers instant access to current and future
program listings whether they originate from live broadcast, on-demand
programming, or local DVR recordings. The Moxi interface is both easy-to-learn
and fun-to-use, giving viewers a much higher level of choice, convenience and
control.
"We're thrilled that BendBroadband has joined our growing roster of cable
customers," said Jim Billmaier, chief executive of Digeo. "This deployment
demonstrates how well suited the BMC with Moxi is for regional cable
operators. We remain committed to helping cable operators of all sizes
deliver services that will forever change consumers' home entertainment
experience."
BendBroadband also plans to continue its partnership with Digeo early next
year by deploying the Moxi two-TV solution that delivers the industry's
lowest-cost, multi-room media center.
Key features of the Motorola BMC with Moxi include:
